David Crockett - The Gentleman from the Cane
Lawrenceburg, Tennessee
Date of Event:
July 7, 2011 - July 23, 2011Event Description:
The Lawrenceburg Community Theatre presents the 35th anniversary production of The Gentleman from the Cane.
The show depicts events in the life of David Crockett while he lived and worked in Lawrence County from 1817 - 1822: his fiery feud with local politician Maximilian Buchanan; his timorous, yet witty and successful first foray into the political arena; and the tragic loss of his mills and distillery in a flood, which precipitated his move from Middle Tennessee toward the west, ultimately, to Texas and The Alamo.
Through this thirty-fifth anniversary production, David Crockett's life and Lawrence County's history converge as a delightful first-time experience for a new generation of viewers as well as a nostalgic return to the past for former patrons. No matter your age, you'll experience the exuberance, the joys, the concerns, and above all, the spirit of the American frontier as it is revealed through the humorous words and lively music of The Gentleman from the Cane!
