Event Description:

One of the most prestigious and longest-running celebrations of the arts, the National Folk Festival, is coming to Nashville for a three-year tenure beginning Labor Day Weekend 2011.

The National Folk Festival, a large-scale three-day outdoor event (September 2-4), celebrates the roots, richness and variety of American culture. The festival features a variety of music and dance performances, participatory dancing, workshops, children’s activities, regional and ethnic foods, storytelling, parades, craft exhibits and demonstrations, and more.

The free festival will be held at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, located in the shadow of the State Capitol in downtown Nashville, the 19-acre park was built in 1996 and is a lasting monument to the state’s bicentennial celebration.
