Pioneer Day at French Camp Historic District

Event Description:

From 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., visit the French Camp Historic District adjacent to the Natchez Trace Parkway for a day of living heritage. Watch artisans as they practice their crafts such as chair caning, leather working, candle making, and basket weaving. Listen to live dulcimer and acoustical music.

Learn about these crafts and instruments, and their history and prevalence in the South. Examine civil war weapons on display.

You will see what life was like in 19th century Mississippi through living history presentations all through the day.

Leisurely stroll through the grounds and tour the Log Cabin Gift Shop and Council House Café, Greenwood Leflore Carriage House, the James Drane Home, the alumni museum and other attractions.

The event is open to the public and there is no entry fee. Concessions will be available.
