The Natchez Trace Parkway, the Natchez Trace Parkway Association and other community groups will "hike to celebrate" the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail and the 50th Anniversary of the National Trails Act with guided hikes throughout the day.
When: Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm Where: Garrison Creek, milepost 427.6 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, near Leiper's Fork, Tennessee Cost of Program: FREE

Schedule:
8:30 am to 10:30 am - Hike with a Ranger This 2 mile hike along a section of the original Natchez Trace will introduce you to the many different people, including Andrew Jackson, US Grant, Pushmataha, Dolly Gordon and many more who traveled the original Natchez Trace.
9 am to 10:30 am - Hike Through History Step back into the year 1801 as you join a reenactor portraying the US Army colonel who oversaw the development of the old Natchez Trace into a military road.
10:30 am to noon and 1 pm to 2:30 pm - Hike with the Chickasaw Join a representative of the Chickasaw Nation on this easy nature hike and explore the relationship the Chickasaw people had with the land along the Natchez Trace.
10:30 am to Noon - Hike for Fitness Join professors from the University of North Alabama on this strenuous hike and discover the unique benefits of exercising outdoors and how to maximize hikes to reach your fitness goals.
