Belmont, Mississippi
Belmont, a town in Tishomingo County, is located in northeast Mississippi about six miles south of the Natchez Trace Parkway.

The settlement of Belmont was originally called Gum Springs with a post office built in 1884. After completion of the Birmingham Division of the Illinois Central Railroad in 1907 the town grew considerably. It was incorporated as Belmont, meaning "beautiful mountain", in 1908.
Bay Springs Lake, a US Army Corp of Engineers project on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, offers all types of water recreation just minutes from Belmont. Belmont is the home of several wholesale markets open to the public.
The population of Belmont was 2,024 at the 2014.
