The Natchez Trace Parkway invites children and their families to come enjoy the Read with a Ranger program at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Parkway Visitor Center in Tupelo. This month’s featured story is “The Prairie that Nature Built.” Discover the plants and animals that make a prairie community flourish. After the story, participants will learn what flowers, insects, and other animals can be found in the Parkway’s Blackland Prairie. Participants can then plant native flower seeds in small pots to take home and create their own backyard (or back porch) prairie!

Read with a Ranger is a 45-minute program that is most appropriate for ages six and under, but everyone is welcome. Participants will listen to a story, join in a fun activity, and go on an optional and easy half-mile hike at the visitor center.

This program is free to the public. The visitor center is located at milepost 266 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, near Tupelo, Mississippi.
