This bicycle route (French Camp to Tupelo - part on the Parkway and part on a detour) is one day of several different Natchez Trace Parkway 442 Mile, South to North (Natchez to Nashville) Itinerary Routes.

Currently (starting on August 16, 2023), there is a 17.5-mile closure on the Natchez Trace Parkway just south of Tupelo, MS from milepost 239.2 to milepost 256.7.

  • Parkway Re-Openings
    • These 17.5 miles are estimated to reopen sometime in the spring of 2024.
  • Which Itinerary Route to Follow?
    • If you are planning to bike this section before these 17.5 miles reopen, consider the itinerary described below. But this detour has some problems - click here for info. If you want to tackle the 23.7-mile detour around the 17.5-mile closure, follow the itinerary described below.
There is another detour route option that goes around the 17.5-mile closure AND goes around all of Tupelo - avoids biking on the Parkway between milepost 239 and 266. This detour takes cyclists off the Parkway to the popular Tanglefoot Trail®. To follow that detour route for this French Camp, MS to North Tupelo, MS itinerary, click here.
    • If you are planning to bike this section after these 17.5 miles reopen you need to follow the itinerary that includes no detour. Click here for that itinerary.
